  • Artist and choreographer, Silvia is a Researcher with CEEC funding at ICNOVA in the Performance and Cognition Group. Holds a PhD in Communication Science with the thesis: Body, Image and Choreographic Thinking: on Contemporary Choreographic Research as Discourse: the examples of Lisa Nelson, Mark Tompkins, Olga Mesa and João Fiadeiro (2016); did the Communication and Arts PhD Program FCSH-UNL, with a grant from FCT, and the supervision of Prof. José B. Miranda. Guest teacher in the FCSH MA program of Performing Arts. She did a master's degree in Contemporary Culture and New Technologies (2010), a licence's degree in Anthropology, FCSH (2005), and a bachelor's degree in Dance Performance at ESD-IPL (1996). Did Forum Dança intensive course for contemporary dancers (1997/1999). Sílvia has also presented her choreographic work across Portugal, in Berlin, and Madrid, and collaborated with various artists in choreographic research projects and films.
