Born in Lisboa, October 29th 1957
Concluded his graduation in Pharmaceutical Sciences in the University of Lisboa in 1981, starting his academic career in 1983. In this university he dedicated his teaching activities yo Human Physiology in various health domains, namely Pharmacy, Medicine, Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics.
In this domain, at the Universidade de Lisboa, he received his Master Degree (1987, Magnum et Laude) and later his PhD degree (1992, Magnum et Laude).
Cooperated with Lusofona¿s Group from 1997 where he launched the university¿s health project basis. The academic curricula also includes more than 450 science contributions as an author in specialized journals, and more than 400 communications (national and international). He also received several prizes and distinctions.
Luís Cláudio Ribeiro is Vice-Rector and Professor at Lusófona University, in Lisbon, Portugal. PhD in Communication Sciences develops research activity in media epistemology and sound. His recent publications focus on the medium, identification and characterisation of changes by the use of sound mediators in contemporary society. He is the main investigator of the projects Lisbon SoundMap, supported by the Portuguese Government (FCT, 2011-2014): http://www.lisbonsoundmap.org; The Technique and the Media as a Problem: from Representation to Thought (2017-18) and Aural Experience, Territory and Community (FCT, 2018-2021). Luís Cláudio Ribeiro organized and submitted the bachelor's and master's programs in sound technologies for approval by the National Agency for Evaluation, which was accredited. In addition to the academic activity, he is also a poet and novelist.
