Ana Raquel De Ponte Figueiras

Ana Figueiras is an Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona and a Research Scientist at CICANT, where she serves as Assistant Scientific Coordinator of MagLab. Her research focuses on information visualization, particularly visual storytelling and the integration of narrative elements into visualization. She also explores digital journalism and is currently developing with Carla Rodrigues Cardoso (later joined by Pantelis Vatikiotis and Ilo Alexandre) a new theoretical concept, Interconnected Journalism, which promotes the exploration of themes across all kinds of borders and fosters awareness of the interconnections between individuals and communities. Ana holds a Ph.D. in Digital Media from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UT Austin | Portugal Program), as well as a Master’s degree in New Media and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the same institution.
