European’s Project in which Lusófona University (PORTUGAL) leads the consortium from ten countries:
The general objective of this project is, primarily, to systematize a practical model of community and civic engagement that can enhance civil society’s skills and capacity to prevent and counter radicalisation (PVE/CVE) by developing digital toolkits to disseminate in the local communities. Secondly, to develop support structures offering to all relevant local actors tailored trainings and consultancy services to help them to implement specific initiatives on PVE/CVE.
Specific objectives:
Test and develop an evidence-based methodology of community engagement aiming at preventing and countering radicalisation into 3 digital toolkits targeting three types of communities: (1) youth organisations, (2) organisations of families of radicalised people and (3) Muslim communities. Implement the evidence-based methodology by supporting 54 local actors through tailored trainings, in order to teach them on how to empirically apply the toolkits in their own communities. Develop a support consultancy service, in order to help 22 youth organisations, 14 organisations of family of radicalised people and 18 Muslim communities in implementing 54 PVE/CVE initiatives. Activities:
3 digital toolkits for youth organisations, families of radicalised people and Muslim communities 3 training for trainers for the consortium’s NGOs on how to use and disseminate the toolkit. 54 meetings for local communities developed by the consortium’s trainers; 54 PVE/CVE initiatives developed by the local actors. Expected results:
Individuals that have easy access to practical tools on PVE/CVE and work as multipliers within their own communities by developing PVE/CVE sustainable initiatives; Support individuals and civil society to build resilience; Preventing radicalisation through education and social inclusion; Support further research into the trends and challenges radicalisation and recruitment to terrorism.

The project, led and coordinated by University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest (UVMB), aims to address the limited knowledge on the safety aspects of modern foodstuffs, particularly alternative meat products, by examining the levels of process contaminants (acrylamide and PAH) and metals in meat replacement products made from ingredients most often used for meat replacement in marketed products (e.g. wheat, pea, bean, soy) and insect-based products. The study is conducted in Hungary, Sweden, and Portugal to provide a comprehensive assessment across different regions.

CRESCINE’s mission is to increase the competitiveness of the film industry across small countries in Europe and improve the circulation of films and AV content coming from small markets internationally. CRESCINE’s aims to enhance the competitiveness and the cultural diversity of the European film industry. This will be achieved by understanding, engaging with, empowering, and ultimately transform European small markets setting out from research and piloting in 7 markets. In their “smallness", these markets underline the challenges and drivers one must consider to increase the competitiveness of the EU film industry as all. CRESCINE will address, systematically, the whole film production, distribution and consumption ecosystem. The aim is to innovate at all levels of the value chain, from policies to ways of data management and analytics, production business models and modes of distribution.

CURIOSITAS: Peeping Before Virtual Reality. A Media Archaeology of Immersion Through VR and the Iberian Cosmoramas

Before virtual reality, peeping has long been a popular media practice. Since the 18th Century, the world has been presented in lensed and boxed apparatuses that aroused wonder and seduced audiences showing, for instance, day-light scenes of distant cities turning into enchanting night views. This is part of an unexplored bicentennial media culture of immersion that is still alive today, and that was initially launched by peepshows and cosmoramas: one of the earliest media systems in Europe that produced and distributed ‘vues d’optique’ (or transparent views) from central cities such as Paris, London or Berlin to the Iberian Peninsula. CURIOSITAS engages with the notion of ‘virtual heritage’, reviewing this forgotten history of early immersive media and examining its cultural impact on other peep media such as stereoscopic photography and virtual reality. Moreover, CURIOSITAS introduces an innovative digital humanities approach to media studies, timely exploring the potential of virtual reality as a unique, comparative research tool. What is at stake as a goal is the production of a media archaeology of ‘immersion’ through virtual reality and the specific case study of the Iberian Cosmoramas. The CURIOSITAS project, organized by Universidade Lusófona and by Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, is at a cross-roads of disciplines, and will thus be developed by a team of national and international researchers, with a strong expertise in communication sciences, history of ancient media, history of art, virtual reality and museology. The project will also benefit from the institutional partnerships established with the Cinemateca Portuguesa and the Museum of Cinema of Girona.

ANTICIPATING CREATIVE FUTURES
CYANOTYPES brings together a wide variety of organisations, stakeholders, and European networks to address the needs and skills gaps in the Cultural & Creative Industries. Based on innovative multidisciplinary approaches, CYANOTYPES tackles the sector’s potential for innovation and competitiveness, which deals as well with challenges presented by, among others, COVID-19, the digital transition, and the green shift.
The project title* references the iron-based photographic process that led to the term “blueprint” we know today. Inspired by this key moment of innovation, CYANOTYPES sees in this very practice an exemplary episode from the pre-digital archive of arts-and-technology experimentation that inspires creators to this day. Invoking a pre-digital technology, CYANOTYPES cautions that “the digital” is itself in a moment of transition, offering us new possibilities and perspectives. While we anticipate growing roles for AI, Big Data, and synthetic content generated by data-driven systems in the immediate future, we also see the need to imagine multiple futures on which innovation in CCI education depends.
The digital transformation imposes EU Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to enhance their role in preparing the new generation workforce and to upskill the existing one in meeting the challenging and ever-growing cybersecurity challenges.
15 HEIs and 13 companies from 16 countries are working on an agile, collaborative, and multi-modal training program that will complement, support and advance the existing academic programs by linking innovation, research, industry, academia, and SME support.
CyberSecPro aims to bridge the gap between degrees, working life, and marketable cybersecurity skill sets necessary in today’s digitalization efforts and provide examples of best practices for cybersecurity training programs.
CyberSecPro’s ambition is to enhance the role of the Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) in offering hands-on and working-life skills for driving a trustworthy digital transformation in critical sectors of the economy. The enhanced HEIs will equip the workforce with the necessary capabilities to address the digital challenges and be capable to develop secure privacy aware innovative ICT and industrial products that serve people, businesses and working-life communities practicing their democratic values and rights. By establishing a unique Learning Factory, CyberSecPro will be an authentic environment to link innovation, research, industry, academia and SME support. The outcome of the CyberSecPro is to empower the NextGen Europe.

CYCERONE will be a pivotal European platform for cybersecurity education and professional development. Its mission is to offer a unified access point for diverse learners – focusing on SMEs and public sectors - to enhance their cybersecurity skills. The initiative aims to amplify the reach of higher education institutions and professional training providers in cybersecurity through strategic marketing and dissemination within the Cybersecurity Skills Academy, connecting to existing available tools, such as the EU Digital Skills and Jobs Platform and ENISA’s CyberHEAD Database. This endeavor aims to mitigate the cybersecurity talent gap in Europe by making skilled professionals more accessible across various industry sectors. The project will facilitate collaboration between academia and the private and public sector, establishing a dedicated digital platform to centralize and democratize access to cybersecurity training. By innovating and diversifying training programmes and courses, CYCERONE intends to address the specific needs of its target demographics while ensuring the platform’s offerings remain aligned with market demands through constant evaluation and adaptation. Additionally, the initiative will provide online, hybrid and on-the-job training opportunities in the different EU languages, foster innovation and entrepreneurship within cybersecurity education, and emphasize ethical technology use. This comprehensive approach aims not just to fill the existing skills gap but to foster a culture of innovation and ethical responsibility within the European cybersecurity sector. EIT Digital leads the consortium, comprising 16 organizations from 10 EU countries, including 11 higher education institutions, divided into four work packages with clear goals, deliverables, and milestones. CYCERONE's holistic approach to cybersecurity education represents a significant step forward in equipping Europe with the talent needed to navigate and secure the digital future.

Europe faces unprecedented changes, in which digital transformation and the green transition are fundamental elements for the future of Europe. The eIDAS trust framework is undoubtedly one of the pillars of the European Union, which has laid the foundations of identity and trust in the digital world. The revision of this framework extends its scope of competence beyond identity, encompassing the electronic attestation of attributes (EAA). Establishing the technical measures, processes, and procedures for establishing trust frameworks in sectoral areas will be crucial to the construction of a digital Europe.
In this sense, DC4EU will focus on identifying and applying all these aspects in the Education field, focusing on the issuance of educational credentials and professional qualifications, and in the Social Security field by engaging in the execution of the portable document A1 (PDA1) and the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
The Project’s main objective is to test interoperability and scalability in the national domain and multiple cross-border contexts, to provide feedback to the European Commission (EC) and MSs for iterative updates through specific coordination work packages, project management processes and tasks. The process will allow for comprehensive wallet testing using Qualified Electronic Attestations of Attributes (QEAA), Electronic Attestations of Attributes (EAA) and credentials, and their national and cross-border functionalities in a pre-production environment and correspondent use cases (UCs).
The European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) will be a fundamental element of hybridization for cross-sectoral and cross-border use cases (identity, signature, educational credentials and social security). DC4EU will contribute to a new paradigm for citizens in the field of education and social security, which is fully aligned with the European Council requirements for identity and data. It will also adhere to the European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles.

The growing online information ecosystem creates unprecedented opportunities for the democratisation of knowledge. For example, through participation in online conversations, we can discover and evaluate possible facts, as well as our beliefs, in the light of arguments and evidence. The opposite phenomenon also exists, and is currently prevalent. Certain human and sociocultural vulnerabilities have created the context for the emergence of what we know as the post-truth era, in which many people choose to believe false ideas, even when presented with evidence. This has amplified collective phenomena such as hate speech, dissemination of fake news and discrimination. These phenomena influence decision-making, both at the individual and collective level. One of the first places where we should study the formation of these dynamics of social conversation is in school. One of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 is to substantially improve education for quality, inclusion, equality and lifelong learning. The Debaqi project aims to use data obtained from social conversations at school to identify the (potentially) causal factors that determine their health and quality. These factors can then be used to design educational interventions. The aim of these interventions is for young people to be able to evaluate the dialogues in which they participate on their own, to increase appreciation of argumentation as an important part of a healthy dialogue, as well as of inclusion and plurality through giving space to different ideas, thus avoiding the current tendency towards polarisation. Debaqi is based on the use of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence techniques, as well as rigorous consideration of aspects related to privacy, data protection and ethical aspects, both in the design of analytical algorithms and in the recommendations of factors to be considered in educational interventions.
